Darrelle Revis’ Grandmother Says The New York Jets are Not Being Fair in Holdout

Darrelle Revis has been away from his team for five straight weeks and his grandmother, Aileen Gilbert, feels this is incredibly unfair.  
In the fourth year of his six-year rookie deal, Revis was under contract to make one million dollars.  Wanting to become the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL, he asked for a re-nogotiated contract.  The two sides could not make an agreement and have been in a holdout ever since.
With both Darrelle Revis and the New York Jets being silent about the situation of late due to a gag order, a close relative decided to sit down and speak out about the holdout with ESPN.com's Jets beat writer Rich Cimini.
In the interview, a supportive Grandma Gilbert said, "I know he wants to play, but Darrelle understands contract negotiations.  Some players don't get it, but Darrelle can read a contract.  I think he's comfortable with his decision because he knows what he was told by the Jets and he knows what he's worth."
