Bucs’ Josh Freeman Remembers Five-Pick Performance, Ready To Take on Carolina

Josh Freeman’s first trip to Carolina to face the division-rival Panthers last season was anything but memorable.

But it’s still hard to forget.

The rookie was 23-of-44 for 321 yards, but threw no touchdowns and five interceptions in a 16-6 Buccaneer loss.

“That was definitely a tough game to watch,” said Freeman, “because that was a game I feel like we should have won, and we didn’t win, because of ball security issues on my part.”

Freeman did not play in the Buccaneers’ first meeting with the Panthers in 2009, and since that game, Freeman is 2-3 as a starter, including a 17-14 opening-week win against the Browns last week in which he was 17-of-28 for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

“Looking from last year to this year, definitely moved on,” said Freeman. “I’ve grown a lot as a player and I expect to go out and have a much better performance.”
