The Redskins, who had a 4-12 record last season, are looking to turn things around this year with new head coach Mike Shanahan.  With in the last week Shanahan has made some major changes, including the release of T. Samuels, DT. Griffin, CB. Smoot, WR. Randle El, G. Thomas, RB's Betts and Cartwright.
Johnson was released from the Kansas City Chiefs last season and signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. He is a two-time Pro Bowl pick who has run for 6,219 yards and 55 touchdowns in eight seasons in the NFL.
Shanahan called Johnson "a physical runner and good addition to the backfield."
