Dan Carpenter of the Miami Dolphins Named October AFC Top Special Teams Player

In what comes as little surprise after taking two player of the week honors in the past three weeks, Miami Dolphins placekicker Dan Carpenter has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October.

After opening the month with a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown against the New England Patriots, Carpenter went on to covert all 13 of his attempts in the following three games.

Carpenter set a career-long field goal twice in October—first with a 53-yarder against the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 17, followed by a 54-yarder on Oct. 31.

He kicked five field goals against both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Packers, making him just the fourth player in NFL history to convert five field goals in back-to-back games.

Not only did he kick the game-winning field goal in overtime against the Packers, but he also contributed heavily to the Dolphins' scoring throughout the month.
