Washington Redskins Extend Donovan McNabb, But Was It a Mistake?

The Redskins finally got serious about picking a quarterback.
On Thursday, they gave quarterback Donovan McNabb a 5-year, $78 million extension to stay with the team. McNabb received a ridiculous $40M guaranteed with the potential to earn $10M more in incentives. I’m sure this will be all the broadcast team is talking about on Monday Night Football, as the Redskins announced this strategically to be made public hours before game time. I can hear Jon Gruden praising him now.
This is an insane move by Redskins upper management, and not just because McNabb was yanked for a two-minute drill two weeks ago… for REX GROSSMAN, the pillar of quarterback ineptitude over the past few years, but also because:
-The 34-year-old signal caller is on pace for his fewest TD passes since 1999
-He has thrown more picks than touchdowns
-He has so far has posted his lowest completion percentage since 2006
-The Redskins are only 4-4 this season
