In just his second season as a NFL head coach, Rex Ryan has built an impressive resume and body of work.
Eighteen regular-season wins. Two playoff victories. An AFC Championship Game appearance. A 9-2 start and a shot to dethrone the New England Patriots in their building come Monday night on national television.
This is what Ryan has envisioned, preached and strived for in just two seasons in New York: to become an immediate candidate as one of the NFL's elite franchises.
The obstacle in his path is the very person who held his job for about a day, only to take his expertise and experience to New England, where he's won four conference championships and three Super Bowls.
On the day Rex Ryan was hired by New York Jets owner Woody Johnson and general manager Mike Tannenbaum, he told the media he had no intentions of kissing Bill Belichick's ring.
