Leon Washington Video: Premature Celebration or Great Play by Punter?

The answer, of course, is both.

In the Seattle Seahawks 31-14 win against the Carolina Panthers in Sunday, return man extraordinaire Leon Washington (formerly of the New York Jets) thought he was home free after speeding past the last man of defense, punter Jason Baker, in the third quarter.

So he flashes the "No. 1" sign, like any normal return man would do, as he closes in on the goal line.

But Baker laid out and made an incredible play, slapping Washington's right shoe, which caught on Washington's left heel, which sent Washington sprawling, which made poor little Leon fall a couple yards from the goal line.

Well, that's embarrassing.

All that hoopla and raising his finger for nothing. It was still a great return, as Washington has shown he's a legit return man with two returns for touchdowns against the San Diego Chargers earlier in the season.
