Don Meredith: Dallas Cowboys, Monday Night Football Icon Remembered

Don Meredith, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback who became a national icon on Monday Night Football, was remembered on ESPN's broadcast of the Monday night game between the New England Patriots game.
Meredith died Sunday night from a brain hemorrhage at a Santa Fe, New Mexico hospital, and Monday, the NFL, the Cowboys, and Monday Night Football all remembered the man known as Dandy Don. 
"Don Meredith was one of the most colorful characters in NFL history. He was a star on the field who became an even bigger star on television," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said. "He brought joy to football fans, from his play in historic NFL games like the Ice Bowl to his great personality that helped launch the success of Monday Night Football."
Meredith was a somewhat successful quarterback for the Cowboys between 1963 and his shocking retirement in 1968, but it was in Monday Night Football's broadcast booth that he became a legend.
