Sal Alosi: Jets Coach Tripping Player Cause For Termination?

Sal Alosi, former Hofstra linebacker and current strength and conditioning coach for the New York Jets, made a horrible lapse in judgment on Sunday when he decided to try and trip up Miami Dolphins player Nolan Carroll.

Carroll was shaken up by the trip, laying on the field for a few minutes and missing a few plays, meaning Alosi dodged a real bullet. If Carroll had been seriously injured as a result of the trip, Alosi could've been looking at repercussions above and beyond what the league or the Jets might do to him.

What might happen to Alosi is only speculation at this point. Some players on the Dolphins already are calling for a huge fine, but they forget Alosi doesn't make a couple million a year like they do, so while a fine may be justified, $15,000 is a little harsher of a fine for a guy of Alosi's status than the linebacker playing on a $20 million contract.
