Dallas Cowboys: Tony Romo Done For The Season?

Tony Romo told the media on Sunday that his broken collarbone isn't healing as fast as he'd hoped and that his chances of returning this season now are very slim.

To add fuel to that fire, Jon Kitna has been playing well enough that the Cowboys may not want to mess with anything in the final weeks of the season if the doctors clear Romo to return to the field.

Romo was having a decent season prior to his injury, but one of Romo's main characteristics in his career to date has been his inconsistency, especially in big games. While it's foolish to speculate anything past the end of the season, it is safe to say Romo may be on a shorter leash next year if the offense doesn't move the way Jason Garrett, or whoever else may be hired, thinks they should be moving.

Kitna is 38 years old, so he's definitely not the future of the franchise, but that doesn't mean the Cowboys don't take a prospect low in the draft and turn him into the "next Tony Romo."
