NFL Playoff Picture: San Francisco 49ers
If you were to say before the season that the San Francisco 49ers could still be in the playoff race with a 5-9 record, you would probably be labeled as certifiably insane.
And that's, as they say, why they play the game.
Yes, the Niners are still in the playoff race, but they're going to have to do something that they've done only once this whole season: win two games in a row.
The first of these games is going to be tough, as the Niners travel to St. Louis to take on the Rams in Week 16. If they win that game, they will be tied with the Rams at 6-9.
But where things get tricky is in Week 17. The Niners obviously have to beat the Arizona Cardinals at home, but that will only punch their ticket if Seattle either loses to Tampa Bay in Week 16, or to Seattle in Week 17.
