San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith is a free agent this offseason and many must wonder, where will Smith play in 2011?
Some 49ers fans have been waiting for this day to come, and others still might want to give the former No. 1 overall pick another chance.
Alex Smith has shown his capability every now and again, but the fact remains that he has not performed liked the franchise quarterback the 49ers hoped he would be.
Smith's problem during his career with the 49ers is that he has not been consistent, forcing the Niners to try other options such as David Carr and Troy Smith.
Perhaps it was the instability in the 49ers' system, but Smith has not played well enough to earn himself a seventh season with the 49ers.
