Carolina Panthers Unlikely To Go QB Route With Top Pick

It's been a week since Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck crushed Panthers fans with his announcement that he would be returning to college for the 2011 season, removing himself from the NFL draft, and in essence kicking the city of Charlotte in its collective gut. 
Nobody in their right mind can fault the young man for wanting to go back to school to earn his degree, but plenty can wonder how he was able to sanely turn down the enormous dollar figure that awaits any top pick in the NFL.
In any case, the Panthers still have the No. 1 pick in April's draft and, barring an unlikely trade, will have to make a choice as to who is most deserving of that pick.  Luck was a sure-fire selection before his announcement, but now the draft board becomes a bit more open for Carolina. 
The team has glaring needs on the defensive line, especially at defensive tackle, which bodes well for Auburn's Nick Fairley.  Fairley was dominant in the BCS National Championship Gam...
