Nick Fairley Came Into the Combine Smaller Than Expected, But Panthers Will Take Him Anyway?

The Carolina Panthers are, for all intents and purposes, and absolute wreck. As such, none of the players they have the option of taking with the first overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft is going to solve their woes in one fell swoop.
But instead of drafting a player like Cam Newton and hoping like hell that he becomes what he’s supposed to be, my guess is that the Panthers will look to grab an impact defender for their front seven.
One option is Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers, but I’m thinking they’ll go with Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley instead. Fairley absolutely dominated the competition in the SEC in 2010, and he was a menace in the BCS Championship against Oregon.
At the Combine, Fairley did indeed measure out to be smaller than he was listed by Auburn. It turns out that he’s 6’3” and 291 pounds and not 6’5” and 300 pounds. Still, he...
