Elijah Alexander: Another Passes Too Young, LB Dead at 39
March 25, 2010 · David cotignola · Jump to comments
Elijah Alexander, an NFL Veteran from 1992-2001, passed away yesterday after a five year battle with multiple myeloma. MM, as it is sometimes called, is a cancer of the white blood cells. He was diagnosed in 2005, four years after he retired from football.
A 10th round pick of the Buccaneers in the 1992 draft out of Kansas State, Elijah played with Tampa for the '92 season before playing from '93-'95 with Denver, then '96-'99 with the Colts. From 2000-2001, Elijah started 29 of 32 games for the Raiders at OLB before leaving football.
In 2006, he founded the Tackle Myeloma Foundation, which will hopefully continue to search for a cure and help his legacy live on far beyond his years on the gridiron.
