Indianapolis Selects Colorado OT Nate Solder With The 22nd Pick In The 2011 NFL Draft
Indianapolis has more pressing needs than the offensive line, but since Peyton Manning is their entire franchise they have to do what is best for him. It must be nice to have that kind of power over a franchise.
It's not that Solder is a bad pick for them, either. I just think that they would be better served building their defense, which has never been very good in the Manning-era.
The Colts offensive line is getting older and they had a ton of injuries last year, which led to Manning taking a lot of hits late in the season. Observers blamed the line for the lack of a running game, but I think it's just because Joseph Addai isn't very good.
Either way, the Colts will upgrade their offensive line with the first pick in this draft.
