NFL Draft Can Get The Atlanta Falcons Over The Hump In 2011
After a great season, the Falcons fell flat on their face in the postseason. Now the offense, especially Matt Ryan, were terribly disappointing in that home loss to Green Bay. But the defensive effort revealed a real weakness.
John Abraham is a great player and head a great season in 2010, recording 13 sacks, Kroy Biermann has some promise, and they've spent top draft picks on defensive lineman like Peria Jerry and Jamal Anderson, so it's more likely that they'll try and increase their pass rush with an outside backer.
Missouri's Aldon Smith and UCLA's Akeem Ayers are probably gone at this point, but local product Justin Houston should still be on the board. He is raw and needs a lot of coaching but he would be a nice fit.
Regardless of that choice in the first round, expect another pass rusher to be the choice in second or third round. After the top tier players are gone, there are still quality defensive ...
