2011 NFL Mock Draft Sees Lions Try to Strengthen Defense With UCLA Linebacker Akeem Ayers
Sam Westmoreland's Pick: The Detroit Lions' most glaring need coming into this draft is obvious: secondary help. Detroit's corners were routinely torched last season, and they could sure use a guy like Prince Amukamara. But, he's gone, headed for the Texans, which means the Lions are left to fill one of their other holes. 
Look for Detroit to continue it's trend of defensive picks with Akeem Ayers out of UCLA. The talented linebackerhas the freakish athletic ability you need from an outside linebacker, and the kind of nose for the quarterback perfect for wreaking havoc in the backfield. He's got all the potential in the world, and could be just the right piece to help improve the Lions' shoddy defense.
