NFL Draft 2011: Should the Carolina Panthers Be Looking at Blaine Gabbert?

Carolina Panthers Draft: Cam Newton gets all the headlines but Gabbert might still be mix:
While seemingly the whole wide world thinks that the Carolina Panthers will take Cam Newton No. 1 overall all, Todd McShay of ESPN offers a different possibility. Actually, he offers two.
In McShay's latest first-round mock of the 2011 NFL Draft, he gives three options for each team. McShay's first option for the Panthers is Newton. His second is defensive tackle Marcell Dareus. The third option is picking Blaine Gabbert.
Remember him? He's that quarterback that was in the top spot just a month ago but has been wholly supplanted by the Newton hype. McShay believes Gabbert is the better quarterback prospect.
Both come from spread systems. They'll have to overcome that and learn to play from under center to succeed in the NFL. Newton has the bigger arm, but Gabbert lacks character concerns while Newton carries plenty with him.
