Matthew Stafford Video: Watch Lions QB’s Incredible Diving TD

With one quarter left to play, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford took matters into his own hands to get Detroit back into its Wild Card game against the New Orleans Saints.

With one minute remaining in the third quarter, the Lions were down 24-14.

Facing a 3rd-and-goal, the Lions ran a bootleg that got most of the defense to bite.

Stafford, who is known for his arm and not his legs, took off around the right side of the line to the corner pylon.

It wasn’t an easy walk-in touchdown.

No, Stafford laid his body on the line and dove for the score from the three-yard line.

The touchdown closes the gap to three points and puts this game completely up for grabs.

Many predicted this game to be a shootout, but thus far there has been some good defensive play.

The 24-21 score may not indicate fantastic defense, but it’s a lot more than originally anticipated.

In fact, Vegas had the over/under for the game set at 59 points.

With a full quarter to go, it’s still very possible that things break open in the fourth quarter and this game ends in a shootout.

No matter how it ends, it appears it should be a dramatic finish.

If the Saints prevail, they will face the 49ers in the Divisional round.

If the Lions find a way to mount the comeback, they will play the Packers.
