Why Mike Wallace Is More Valuable Than Santonio Ever Was

June 5, 2012   ·     ·   Jump to comments

Santonio Holmes may have won the Super Bowl MVP as he led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a win over the Arizona Cardinals, however that doesn’t make him the most valuable Steelers receiver in the Ben Roethlisberger era.
That would be Mike Wallace. Yes, stats and numbers have much to do with it (Wallace has posted up back-to-back 1,100-plus yard seasons, something Holmes has never done), but it’s Holmes’ behavior on and off the field that really seals the deal.
Great receivers make good teams and good quarterbacks even better—and that’s just what Wallace is, and it’s one reason why he means more to the Steelers than Holmes ever did.
