Does the NFL know that we are in a recession?
Apparently not!
Well, let me remind them.
Our current national debt is $12.4 trillion. That's $40k in debt split amongst each of our nation's 308 million citizens, and it's rising to the tune of $3.8 billion a day. The national minimum wage is $7.25/hr, and the national unemployment rate is nearly 10 percent.
So, what is the NFL's answer?
Surprisingly, they aren't satisfied with their current position, making on average 15 times more than the national average household income of $50,740. The demands for new stadiums, higher player salaries, and higher ticket prices increase every year.
Here's a funny scenario: Blackouts are threatening 12 current NFL teams in 2009 and are expected to increase in 2010. A blackout occurs when a team does not sell out the tickets for a game. Consequently, local television coverage in that area won't show the game to the team's general fan base.
