Waiver Wire Pickups Week 10: 2012 Fantasy Football Lineup Advice

November 7, 2012   ·     ·   Jump to comments

With Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson suffering injuries last week, the Raiders will be forced to go with the passing game to win. While some will target Taiwan Jones as an option off the waiver wire, fullback Marcel Reece should be the first option to target off the waiver wire in the Raiders backfield.

QB Carson Palmer

The Raiders will continue to be a pass-heavy team especially with Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson banged up with ankle injuries. With the emergence of Brandon Myers at tight end and Denarius Moore back over the past month from his prolonged hamstring problems, Palmer is a matchup play going forward.

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

If you’re in need of a one-week play, Fitzpatrick is worth a look as the Bills head out to New England in what should be a high-scoring game. Ftizpatrick has had some nice performances against the Patriots’ shaky secondary, and this week should be no exception.

RB Isaac Redman

According to Ed Bouchette from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Jonathan Dwyer is expected back in the lineup, Isaac Redman should have a shot to remain the starter this week. Look for both runners to work in a committee early on, but if Dwyer struggles with his quad injury, Redman will likely carry the full load in the second half against the Chiefs.

RB Joique Bell

Mikel Leshoure played last week but Bell worked as the closer for the Lions once again. Active in the passing game, Bell is worth a flex play in PPR leagues and is a decent bench hold in case something happens to Leshoure.

RB Shane Vereen

Expect Vereen to hold on to the backup role for at least one more week as Brandon Bolden continues to work his way back from an injury. Vereen has a terrific matchup against the Bills and is worth using in your lineup.

RB Marcel Reece

The Raiders tend to use Reece more often in the passing game over Taiwan Jones, and as I wrote about with Carson Palmer above, we should expect a pass-heavy attack with McFadden and Goodson banged up. Reece has yet to receive a handoff this season but he should get some looks.

That said, we should expect Reece to make his presence felt most in the passing game, and that means he’s a better waiver option for PPR leagues.

WR Danny Amendola

Look for Amendola to work his way back into the Rams offense this week. While Amendola has a tough schedule in the second half, he is clearly Sam Bradford’s favorite target and is a weekly WR3 play in PPR leagues.

WR Emmanuel Sanders

Expect Sanders to replace Antonio Brown in the Steelers offense. Sanders is a worthy WR3 play in deep leagues, as he has the skill set to produce as a WR2 option. Problem is, we haven’t seen much from Brown this season, but Sanders is still too talented to stay on the waiver wire.

Keep An Eye On

RB Taiwan Jones

Not sure whether Jones will see much work in the Raiders backfield as the coaching staff still has trust issues with him. Jones is an explosive back, but he needs space before he can make things happen. Basically he won’t create much space himself nor will he break many tackles.

RB Mike Goodson

When I heard McFadden was down with a leg injury on Sunday, it seemed Goodson was a shoe-in to be the hottest player off the waiver wire this week. Then we learned Goodson suffered an ankle injury himself against the Buccaneers. If he comes back before McFadden, he would be worth a flex play and a pickup off the waiver wire.

WR Michael Floyd

Floyd is starting to work his way into the lineup, and because the Cardinals are struggling on the ground and defenses are making a point to take Larry Ftizgerald away, both Floyd and Andre Roberts could be options in fantasy leagues. Roberts is a top 20 receiver in PPR leagues thus far, and Floyd is worth consideration in deeper leagues as a roster stash.

WR Alshon Jeffery

According to Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune, we should expect Jeffery back soon. The Bears need Jeffery in the lineup, and with Brandon Marshall posting one of his better seasons of his career, look for defenses to focus on taking him away and Jeffery could be a decent option in fantasy leagues down the stretch.
