Colin Kaepernick Contract: Latest News and Rumors on Negotiations with 49ers

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been among the NFL's most productive signal-callers over the last two seasons, and he may soon be rewarded for his efforts.
According to Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee, Kaepernick and the Niners are expected to resume negotiations on a contract extension for the first time since February.
The report has since been confirmed by ESPN's Bill Williamson:
The resumption of talks is due largely to the fact that the 49ers have gained some salary cap relief recently with former cornerback Carlos Rogers' $6.6 million cap hit being wiped away and $2.6 million of linebacker NaVorro Bowman's base salary being converted into a signing bonus, per Barrows.
Barrows also touched on Kaepernick's recent legal issues, noting the Niners' likely thoughts on the issue:
