Panthers’ Cam Newton Records Most Carries by a Quarterback in 1 Game Since 2011

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton had 17 carries for 107 rushing yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 37-37 tie with the Cincinnati Bengals. According to ESPN Stats & Info, this marked the first time since the 2011 season that a quarterback has attempted 17 or more rushes in a game.
The last occurrence was the work of current free agent Tim Tebow, who logged 22 carries for 67 yards for the Denver Broncos in a Nov. 27, 2011 game against the San Diego Chargers.
It's rare to see a quarterback reach even 15 carries, as there have been just 10 individual regular-season performances since 1960 in which a player had 15 or more carries and five or more pass attempts.
Prior to Tebow in 2011, the previous occurrence came courtesy of Michael Vick in 2004, ending a 23-year drought dating back to David Woodley's 15-carry game for the Miami Dolphins in 1981.
