Spiller Undergoes Arthroscopic Surgery Saturday, August 15 According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Spiller had arthroscopic knee surgery Friday but is expected to be ready for New Orleans' regular-season opener against the Arizona Cardinals on September 13.
Spiller joined the Saints after spending five years in Buffalo. He was part of a strong backfield tandem with Fred Jackson, but the 28-year-old Spiller missed seven games last season and only averaged 3.8 yards per carry—his lowest average since his rookie campaign.
The Saints have solid depth at running back with Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson, but a healthy Spiller can add a new dimension to the offense, as he averaged at least 4.6 yards per carry every season from 2011-13.
