Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes was fined $17,363 by the league Friday for his horse-collar tackle on Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders on Sunday, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.
The Denver Post's Nicki Jhabvala had a picture of the tackle:
The play in question came during the third quarter of Sunday's game, with the Broncos leading the Vikings 13-10. Peyton Manning hit Sanders for a 43-yard reception, and Rhodes took him down by the collar on the 29-yard line. The penalty put Denver on the 7-yard line, and it wound up scoring thanks to a one-yard reception by tight end Owen Daniels. Denver would go on to win the game 23-20.
Neither Rhodes nor the Vikings have commented on the fine.
It hasn't been a particularly good start to the season for Rhodes. Coming off a 2014 in which he deflected 18 passes, he's broken up only three through four games in 2015.
