The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in search of a new head coach after the team announced Wednesday night it had dismissed Lovie Smith after two seasons.

Favorites Already Emerging for Bucs Job Thursday, Jan. 7 After two seasons and an 8-24 record, the Buccaneers had seen enough of Smith at the helm. ESPN.com's Mark Dominik, just minutes after Smith was fired, already had a good idea of who will take over:
Dirk Koetter just completed his first season as the Buccaneers offensive coordinator, and despite their 6-10 record, he called the plays for the fifth-best total offense in the league, which was headed by a rookie quarterback in Jameis Winston.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported "Koetter is quickly emerging as a top candidate." Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times noted "all signs point to him being the team's next coach after the interview process is completed."
