49ers Reportedly Contacted Lane Kiffin Tuesday, Jan. 19 According to Jennifer Chan of SB Nation, the “49ers contacted Alabama offensive coordinator, Lane Kiffin, to discuss the possibility of him joining Chip Kelly’s coaching staff in the same job title, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The specifics are unclear as to exactly what happened, but contact was made.”
Chan mentioned that the 49ers actually discussed the offensive coordinator position with Kiffin before the 2015 season, although he decided to stay with Alabama.
