Despite being limited to 18 games over the last two seasons and performing below expectations when he was on the field, free-agent defensive end Chris Long is already being pursued by a number of teams.

Long A Contender to Sign Before Free Agency Monday, Feb. 22 Peter King of The MMQB reported Monday that contending teams are "aggressively" pushing to sign Long before the official start of free agency. Because he was released last week by the Los Angeles Rams, Long is free to sign with another club before March 9. 
Long, who turns 31 in March, recorded only 19 tackles and three sacks in 12 games last season. He spent his entire career with the Rams organization after being taken No. 2 overall in the 2008 draft. Long is one of football's best defensive players to never make a Pro Bowl, as injuries have seemingly cut his prime short.
