Alex Mack Opts Out of Contract with Browns: Latest Comments and Reaction

Cleveland Browns center Alex Mack has long been a candidate to opt out of his contract in advance of the March 4 deadline, and he did just that on Wednesday with free agency on the horizon.  
Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported Mack had voided the final three years of his contract, with Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirming the decision, noting the center could still return to Cleveland.
According to Spotrac, Mack was slated to earn $24 million over the final three years of his deal. 
On Feb. 22, Rapoport reported Mack was "expected" to opt out of his deal and chase a lucrative long-term commitment, so the news hardly comes as a shocker. 
However, it could mean a serious shakeup for a Browns offensive line that looked like it had the pieces necessary to provide the team's offense with a solid foundation in the first year under head coach Hue Jackson.
