Eagles Looking to Trade Maxwell, Dump Contract Monday, March 7  Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the Eagles are "deep in discussions" with the Miami Dolphins for Maxwell. The 28-year-old posted an up-and-down first season with the Eagles, recording 64 tackles and two interceptions.
He's due an $8.5 million base salary for 2016, per Spotrac. The Eagles would have to eat $13.3 million in dead-cap space if they trade him, so they'd actually lose $3.6 million in cap space as part of the deal.
Miami wouldn't incur much risk here. All the dead money on his deal would erase in any trade, so the Dolphins would only be responsible for his base salaries, which are non-guaranteed. They may look to renegotiate Maxwell's deal to avoid paying an $8.5 mil...
