Ferguson Reportedly Open to Taking Less Money Wednesday, April 6 The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reported Wednesday the Jets have asked Ferguson to rework his deal to facilitate Fitzpatrick's return.
According to Over the Cap, the 32-year-old is signed for the next two seasons and carries a salary-cap hit of $14.1 million in 2016 and $14.3 million in 2017. Mehta didn't provide specifics about how much the team is looking to save but estimated it'd be in the $4-5 million range.
Sources also told Mehta that Ferguson would "be amenable to playing on a fair reduced salary," but the situation is far from over.
