Mark Sanchez Injury: Updates on Broncos QB’s Recovery from Thumb Surgery

Denver Broncos quarterback Mark Sanchez underwent surgery on his left thumb Saturday and is expected to miss part of the upcoming OTAs, the team announced.

Sanchez Out for Start of OTAs Monday, May 16 Sanchez suffered the injury during weight training last week. He suffered a torn ligament in his (non-throwing) thumb and will not be on the field when the Broncos open their offseason program next week. 
Trevor Siemian and first-round pick Paxton Lynch will handle the quarterback duties. 
Sanchez, 29, is the early favorite to replace Peyton Manning as Denver's starter. He came over from the Philadelphia Eagles via trade in March after expected heir apparent Brock Osweiler signed with the Houston Texans. The former first-round pick threw for 616 yards and four touchdowns against four interceptions last season in Philadelphia.
