C.J. Spillman Found Guilty of Sexual Assault: Latest Comments and Reaction

Former Dallas Cowboys special teams player and defensive back C.J. Spillman was found guilty of sexual assault on Thursday by a Tarrant County jury for an incident that occurred in a Dallas-area hotel in September 2014, according to Claire Z. Cardona of the Dallas Morning News. 
Spillman was sentenced to five years in prison on Friday, per Cardona.
The incident took place at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center, where Spillman was staying at the time. Jordan noted the woman spoke with her family before reporting the sexual assault to authorities. Spillman didn't deny having sex with the woman but claimed it was consensual.  
Spillman continued to play with the Cowboys throughout the 2014 season, despite the incident becoming public. Dallas did not re-sign him after the campaign, however, and a Tarrant County grand jury indicted him in July 2015.
