DeSean Jackson Fined for Wearing Cleats Advocating Social Justice

Washington Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson tried to send a message with his footwear, but the result was a hefty fine from the NFL.
According to John Kiem of ESPN.com, the police-tape cleats Jackson wore during the Week 4 game against the Cleveland Browns led to a $6,076 fine. As Kiem noted, the receiver was planning to only wear them during warm-ups but instead kept them on all game.
Jackson switched back to league-approved cleats in Week 5.
The 29-year-old veteran clarified his message in a team statement, per Todd Dybas of the Washington Times:
Today is the start of my attempts to be part of a solution and start dialogue about the senseless killings of both citizens and police. I have chosen to wear these cleats in pregame today to use my platform as a pro athlete to add to this discussion. This isn’t meant to be any kind of protest against the good men and women in law enforcement in this country. I just want to express my concern...
