NFL1000: Ranking the Top 1,000 Players from Week 6

The New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers waged the shootout of the 2016 season in Week 6, with the Saints triumphing 41-38 at home. Drew Brees was on fire, bringing back echoes of his best seasons with a great performance, completing 34 of 49 passes for 465 yards, four touchdowns and one pick. That put him atop this week's NFL1000 rankings.
Cam Newton was no slouch, either, though his postgame press conference optics left a lot to be desired. Newton completed 27 of 47 passes for 322 yards, two touchdowns and a pick—not the same level of production as Brees, but Brees doesn't have receivers who let him down at Newton's level. Newton leads a Panthers team standing at 1-5 after last year's 15-1 mark, and we're guessing his top-five ranking in this week's NFL1000 isn't likely to make him feel any better.
