Charles Johnson Injury: Updates on Panthers DE’s Hamstring and Return

The hits keep coming for the Carolina Panthers, as defensive end Charles Johnson has been ruled out for the team's game against the San Diego Chargers in Week 14 due to a hamstring injury.

Johnson Out vs. Chargers Friday, Dec. 9 ESPN's David Newton tweeted the Panthers' injury report, which lists Johnson as being out. Per Steve Reed of the Associated Press, Panthers head coach Ron Rivera did say there are no plans to put Johnson on injured reserve with four games remaining. 
At one time, Johnson was one of the NFL's most feared pass-rushers. He recorded 44 sacks in a four-season span from 2010 to 2013. 
Johnson remains a productive player for the Panthers, but age and injuries have started to slow him down. The 30-year-old appeared in just nine games last season before returning in Week 12 and was part of the team's run to the Super Bowl, recording one sack in each of its three playoff games.
