Chargers Spotlight on Stephen Cooper (That other guy)
When you think of Undrafted free agent for the Chargers, fans automatically think of Antonio Gates.
When they think of linebacker, its usually Shawne Merriman.
There have been many bright stars that have shined throughout Coopers seven years with the Chargers, but he was always working in the shadows very productively.
Last year Cooper led the Chargers in tackles with 102. This is nothing new. He did it last year with 98, and the year before that with 108.
In the post season, his numbers even get better. 38 tackles in 2008 post season against the Colts and Steelers in 2008, and led the team in tackles against the Jets in 2009.
So, he doesn't have the cool nick name, the crazy hair cut, or the larger than life persona, but there's no question that he is the unsung leader of the Chargers defense.
Cooper walked on to the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2003, and made the team.
