The most painful losses come when success is so close you can taste it. For these teams (well, most of them), it seemed as though they were on the doorstep of greatness. Then, the door provided a reality check as it swung back, hit the team in the face, and knocked them unceremoniously to the ground, well out of reach of their desires for playoff success. Let this slideshow serve as a reminder to all fans and players: your accomplishments during the season don't matter, unless it translates into a postseason berth.
