Miami Dolphins RB Kory Sheets Tears Achilles’ Tendon

The Miami Dolphins suffered their second season-ending injury in the past three days Wednesday, losing running back and kickoff returner Kory Sheets to a torn Achilles' tendon.

Sheets is the second Dolphins player to tear his Achilles' tendon this year, joining defensive end Phillip Merling. He also joins Merling and fourth-round linebacker A. J. Edds (torn ACL) as the third Dolphin lost for the 2010 season.

Undrafted out of Purdue in 2009, Sheets spent time on the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad before joining the Dolphins' active roster last October after a season-ending injury to running back Patrick Cobbs.

Sheets appeared in two games for the Dolphins as a rookie, carrying the ball once for five yards while playing on special teams.

Although he was buried on the depth chart at running back with the returns of Cobbs and starter Ronnie Brown, Sheets' speed and athleticism made him a prime candidate for the kick returner spot.
