10 Things the Steelers Can Do on Offense to Alleviate Big Ben’s Absence

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Byron Leftwich will be the Pittsburgh Steelers opening week starter and should continue to be the starter for Ben Roethlisberger’s four-six game suspension. In the other major professional sports leagues, a four-six game suspension would be a rather minor suspension, but not in the NFL. This equates to at least a quarter of the season missed by the Steelers star quarterback and the team’s performance to start the season may mean the difference between a playoff appearance and a top 15 draft selection. It will be difficult stretch of games for the Steelers without Roethlisberger. He is a two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback who has established himself as one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL. Mike Tomlin will have to change the way his team play’s to start the season to Leftwich and the rest of the Steelers succeed in Roethlisberger’s absence.
