The primary positions of need fell along the offensive line, where there could be an upgrade at every spot. The rest of the offense primarily needed depth. Defensively, the Steelers have every starter returning. However, while every starter is returning, there is potential that not everyone will retain their starting role this fall. In his third season, William Gay became a full-time starting cornerback and struggled. He was constantly the focal point of the opposing offense’s attack. It became clear that he is not cut out to be a starter and is better served as a nickel back. Another area of struggle was at inside linebacker.
