2011 NFL Draft Grades See Titans Select QB Jake Locker over Auburn's Nick Fairley
When the Tennessee Titans selected Washington quarterback Jake Locker at No. 8, there were gasps across the nation.
It wasn't just that Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley was still on the board. The Titans basically decided Locker was a better prospect than Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert.
In taking a quarterback, the Titans' No. 1 need, I don't blame the franchise. But for taking Locker ahead of Gabbert, Fairley and even Illinois' Corey Liuget, I do blame the franchise.

In my mind, Fairley in particular was the guy the Titans shouldn't have let go. Yes, I know he had "character concerns," and, yes, I know that former disruptor Albert Haynesworth had character concerns, too, but looking back at the past isn't going to help you.
