2011 NFL Mock Draft: Whether Traded or Retired, Palmer Says He's Out:
Carson Palmer doesn't want to be in Cincinnati anymore, and he's made it abundantly clear, says Clark Judge of CBSsports.com. He's had some tremendous years with the Bengals. But things have tapered off in recent seasons, and Palmer is convinced that leaving Cincinnati is the only way to get his career back on track.
Judge reports:
"According to a source close to Palmer, members of the team's coaching staff, including head coach Marvin Lewis, visited with Palmer, and all were told the same thing -- namely, that he is resigned to retiring if the Bengals don't accommodate him, which he doesn't expect they will."
Accommodating Palmer would require trading him. Palmer would be a valuable trade piece in the currently quarterback-hungry NFL. Trading him, however, leaves the Bengals with their own hole at quarterback. Drafting fourth overall should have the Bengals in position...
