2011 NFL Mock Draft: Houston Texans Get a Consolation Prize at Cornerback

Make no mistake, the Houston Texans want Patrick Peterson on their roster.  Most teams want Patrick Peterson on their roster.
But as I'm not in the business of projecting trades, we'll have to assume that Peterson is gone by the time the 11th pick rolls around.  So the Houston Texans end up with a consolation prize, the next best thing.
Prince Amukamara.
The Texans have a lot of work to do in terms of rebuilding their defense.  It's ugly.  Their secondary is atrocious and their linebacking corps is completely in flux right now, severely lacking pass-rush options.  In that regard, the Texans could possibly look at one of the draft's several edge rush threats at this spot, probably someone like Aldon Smith.  But I think the secondary is in much worse shape than the linebacking corps, and Amukamara is probably the better overall talent anyway.
