2011 NFL Mock Draft: Jets Let Kris Jenkins Go, Draft Phily Taylor to Fill at NT

When running a 3-4 defense, before you address the pass rushing outside linebackers, before you go after the coveted 3-4 defensive end, you need to bring in the "big guy in the middle".

Losing Kris Jenkins the past two seasons really limited how successful that Jets defense could have been, especially in run defense, and now with Jenkins cut, they'll for sure need to find his replacement.

While I'm not sold on Phil Taylor as a first round prospect (more of a 2nd or 3rd rounder), many teams do have him that high, and there are only so many defensive players that can handle the 3-4 nose tackle role in the NFL, and Taylor has the size and athleticism to fill that role.
