Kansas City Selects UCLA LB Akeem Ayers With The 21st Pick In The 2011 NFL Draft
When Kansas City won 10 games and the AFC West this year, most people were surprised. Matt Cassel showed some of the skills that got him that big contract after he was acquired from New England. Jamaal Charles looks like the fastest running back in football. Dwayne Bowe had 15 touchdown catches.
The defense was good, but they still have some work to do if they want to be a championship caliber unit. They could use a versatile ball-hawker in the middle of the field and Akeem Ayers fits that bill.
Ayers didn't have the best workout at the combine, but he is still a great playmaker with tremendous speed. He stays around the ball and always makes plays.
The Chiefs could upgrade the defensive line if they don't think that Ayers is good value at this spot.
