49ers vs. Chargers is the opening game of the NFL's Week 15 and features two teams fighting for their playoff lives. 
The 49ers travel to San Diego with a disappointing 5-8 record, though still very much in the NFC West playoff picture. In a division that many have called the worst of the last several decades, the 49ers hold their playoff fate in their hands. With a win tonight against the Chargers, the 49ers would be putting themselves in solid position for a division crown.
Like the 49ers, the Chargers have failed to meet lofty preseason expectations, boasting a 7-6 record. After a 31-0 drubbing of the Kansas City Chiefs in week 14, the Chargers can pull within a virtual tie with the Chiefs if they win tonight and the Chiefs lose on Sunday to the St. Louis Rams.
