Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase was a popular head coaching candidate a season ago, nearly getting the job with the San Francisco 49ers, and he should again be a popular target for teams with a coaching vacancy this offseason.
Lions Reportedly Showing Interest in Gase Sunday, Dec. 13 According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Detroit Lions are interested in Gase and would make him a primary candidate to replace Jim Caldwell if the Lions decided to make a change at head coach this season.
Sources told La Canfora that Gase is intrigued by the opportunity to work with Lions starting quarterback Matt Stafford.
Gase, 37, also has strong ties to the organization. He served on the coaching staffs of Steve Mariucci and Rod Marinelli earlier in his coaching career and is close with new Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter. And he "remains close to several members of the Lions' front office," per La Canfora.
